Symposium on Quantitative Biology and Modeling, April 29, 2005

Midwest Computational Structural Biology Workshop, April 30-May 1, 2005

he Quantitative Biology Modeling Initiative is an expansion of the Research Excellence Fund Center for Biological Modeling established by the College of Natural Science, the Provost, and the Vice President for Research & Graduate Studies on July 1, 2000.

The initiative focuses on developing innovative quantitative experimental and modeling approaches to understand structure/function relationships in biological molecules, evolutionary processes, and biological networks of molecules and populations.

Beyond initiating and strengthening new collaborations between experimentalists and modelers, and between physical and biological scientists, the goals of QBMI are to:

  • Further develop our Graduate and Postdoctoral Training Program
  • Sponsor Seminars and Conferences
  • Lower the Barriers to Interdisciplinary Hiring
  • Promote Communications with Industry and the Broader Scientific Community
  • Participate in Coordinating the Development of High-Performance Computing Infrastructure at MSU
